ALOMAR

Arctic Lidar Observatory for Middle Atmosphere Research

The USOC instrumentation.

USOC is short for Users Science Operation Centre and as the name implies this is the site where the scientists work during campaigns at Andøya Rocket Range. The staff at ALOMAR has recently got the technical and administrative responsibility for the USOC-based equipment. One of our main tasks is to develop USOC and it's associated equipment into an effective and easy to use package.

The USOC has through 2004 been modified and updated to suit new demands for modern rocket campaigns. It has also been adapted to the possibilities of being used as a remote plattform for rocket campaigns at Svalbard, as well as acting as a control centre for atmospheric measurement campaigns.

Take a look at the inside of USOC before the 2004 upgrade. This is how it looks now!
