The ALOMAR Observatory (69 16 42 N, 16 00 31 E, elev. 380 m) is a modern facility where scientific groups from 6 nations are investigating in atmosphere research. At the same time ALOMAR is responsble for all ground based instrumentation of the Andøya Rocket Range The ALOMAR instrumentation covers all atmospheric layers from the troposphere to the lower termosphere. Additional instruments looking at physical parameters in the ionosphere, magnetosphere and auroral oval are making ALOMAR a full size atmospheric laboraory in the arctic.
